POLLUTION  PROTECTION:

RELEIVE’S INTERVENTION and ENVIRONMENTAL RESTORATION
FOR THE REHABILITATION OF A JEOPARDISED MARINE ECO-SYSTEM

 

The coastline marine eco-system is an important environmental and economic resource that needs interventions aiming at their safeguard by the application of new strategies.

The bearable utilization of the resources and the environmental rehabilitation are principals that only recently have been applied to the Marine World, consequently, the knowledge related to the Environmental Marine Restoration is at least 50 years behind in comparison to the Earth equivalent. This delay is connected to the limited access of the sea environment and to the deceptive impression that the sea and its bio resources are inexhaustible sources, not sensible to the impact that derives from its anthropologic disturbances.

    The main action are:

    • to Reduce the fragmentation of the habitat
    • to Favor the link between the neighboring natural areas and the applicative site
    • to Maintain the Ecosystem’s complexity and diversity/heterogeneousness
    • to Reduce through a microbiologic action the presence of ORGANIC pollution (Picture 1) and HYDROCARBON (picture 2)
    • Rebuilding of the new ecosystem units capable of self-support by natural process.

    The main social-economic results of environmental compensation are:

    • Increase fishing capacity by repopulating the fish stock
    • the Reduction of the environmental damages caused by the anthropologic action on the territories in danger
    • Rescue the shabby industrial areas to be converted into tourist resorts
    • the Management of the sea resources through mitigation tools of damaged natural ecosystem with the function of re-qualification and re-improvement of the quality of the sea-waters and the enjoyable coastline and beaches.

     

    OPERATIVE PROPOSAL

    Through eco-sustainable projects for the protection of the Marine/Coastline environment it is possible to identify 3 main fields of intervention:

    • To establish fields able to favor the restoration of the ecosystem and the rehabilitation of the ecological conditions necessary to promote the bio-diversity and the exhaustion of the hydrocarbons or other organic and/or non organic pollutions active in the environment to be treated.
    • The development of fish re-populating zones to compensate the over-fishing problem administered through a proper management, favoring the benefits of the coastal economy in the areas participant to the project.
    • To develop plans for the implementation of special tourist resorts particularly fishing and diving tourists, by creating areas structured in a way that would put in prominence its bio-diversity.

     

    The proposed goals will be achieved by implementing a system that is composed by the TECNOREEF and LIVESTONE integrated modules. These are certified and patented structures (forms and dimension according to the site’s requirements) which are based on the environmental characteristics quality/quantity of the site to be treated. TECNOREEF and LIVESTONE are capable of exalting the exhaustion of polluting substances present in the area that would consequently develop “Trophic” stable chains capable of favoring the proper repopulation of the habitat.

     

    The structures have the capability of triggering lasting and independent mechanisms able to function for long periods in complete autonomy.
    Further more, these units can be lifted and removed so they can easily be placed in other areas.

    A pilot project should be considered for areas of minimum 500 hectares and designed in view of the characteristics that the environment presents.
